& Other Stories, the H&M-owned label known for its focus on female diversity, teamed up with the transgender community for a collection and campaign.
While other fashion brands have openly embraced transgender models, & Other Stories took it another step further by actually working with transgender professionals on a capsule collection.
According to WWD, it is an athletic-inspired collection, and it will be launching in-stores on August 20.
There’s a lot of talk about transgender today, but for us, it was a lateral step to do [the campaign],” said Sara Hildén Bengtsson, & Other Stories creative director.

Also featured in the campaign is Dutch model De Hingh, who was featured in a documentary, detailing her transition.
She opened up about the new interest in the transgender community since Caitlin Jenner’s transition.
“Sometimes to get a political message across, having a commercial brand support an issue can actually help,” De Hingh said. “The thing that you have to be worried about is that it’s not just a fad. It’s not a fashion trend to have transgender people in a youth campaign, then after two seasons not have them anymore.”
Along with this campaign, Makeup Forever also featured transgender model Andreja Pejic in their latest campaign, and due to the increased interest, the first transgender modeling agency opened it doors in the States.
